Facebook has not revealed much about its latest feature of cover videos. However, this feature can be seen on a small number of pages, and the Netflix original show Narcos is the first place where it has been noticed.
This feature was first noticed by Twitter user @vladcalus on April 25th. An official statement was later released by Facebook as it noticed that this feature has been discovered by public.

We recently started testing the ability on desktop to upload a video as the Page cover. Once a cover video has been created, video will render when people visit the Page.
By making cover video available, we want to help you create more engaging interaction and drive more rich experience for your audience by letting you spotlight your creative content in one of the most prominent space: your Page cover.
The feature is still in early testing, but we expect to roll it out more widely soon. We appreciate your patience and support while we improve on this feature to bring cover video available to you soon.
Step by-Step to upload videos to Facebook Page Cover
How Will It Work
The cover video will be uploaded by the user in the same way a cover photo is uploaded. The dimensions for the video will be close to that of the cover photo, as has been suggested by Facebook.
The video will be of 20 – 90 seconds in length and can be made to loop in any direction. The video that is seen on Narcos is of 6 seconds which has been made to loop a few number of times.
When someone visits the page the video will start automatically and will draw attention on the page immediately. The visitor can mute / unmute the video, just like any other video that is seen on Facebook.
The cover video will be played with muted sound, and the visitor will have to turn on the sound manually if he or she wants to hear the video.
The requirements and guidelines for cover videos will almost be same as that of cover photos, but it will certainly change the way a use engages with Facebook page.
